Stop running to live longer — misconceptions about longevity

There are many things that people believe will help them live longer, but some of these beliefs are misconceptions. Here are four common misconceptions about longevity:

Eating less will help you live longer. Studies have shown that calorie restriction can extend life in some animals, but it’s not clear if the same is true for humans. In fact, one study found that calorie restriction actually increased the risk of death in older adults.

Taking antioxidants will help you live longer. Antioxidants are nutrients that protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. Some studies have suggested that taking antioxidant supplements may reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases, but there is no evidence that they can actually extend life span.

Exercise isn’t necessary for a long life. on average than sedentary people, but this doesn’t mean that exercise can automatically add years to your life span. However, regular physical activity does have other health benefits, such as reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke
